Do I need flea treatment at the end of a lease in Canberra?
If a pet has lived in the property, the agent will often ask for a flea treatment whether or not there are fleas, so check with your agent before the clean. We lay it on the carpet with the steam clean, at $60 plus GST with a bond clean's carpet or $120 plus GST with carpet cleaning booked on its own.
What a flea treatment is
In Melody's words, a flea treatment is “a chemical we put on the carpets when they have dogs”. It goes down at the same visit as the carpet steam clean, so it is booked with the carpet.
Why the agent asks when there are no fleas
The request comes from the agent, and it usually comes because a pet lived in the property. Whether anyone has seen a flea makes little difference to the request.

Your agent decides whether the property needs it. Ask the agent before you book. If they want it, add it when you price the carpet. If they do not, leave it off and the carpet is priced the same way without it.

If a pet has lived in the property
Ask the agent if they want a flea treatment, then add it with the carpet steam clean.
If no pet has lived there
Leave it off. The carpet, if you book it, is priced per carpeted room.
If the agent has not said either way
Ring the agent before the clean date. The treatment goes down on the day of the steam clean.
What it costs
The price depends on what it is booked with. It is one line on the price, however many carpeted rooms the house has.

With a bond clean, the carpet itself is priced per carpeted bedroom, from $180 plus GST for one bedroom, and the living areas, stairs and hallways each have their own line. Booking it with the end of lease clean
The calculator on the end of tenancy page adds the carpet and the flea treatment as their own lines, so you see the whole price before you ring. Tell our office the inspection date and who holds the key when you ring, and we collect the key and return it when the clean is done.
