What does a spring clean in Canberra cover, and what does it cost?
A spring clean is a one-off deep clean of the house, priced by the hour from $350 plus GST for the first 4 hours, and you decide what our cleaner does first. It can go further than a regular visit, including jobs such as the oven, appliances, cupboards and areas that do not normally make the list on a regular clean.
Where a Canberra winter goes
A Canberra house spends months shut against the cold, with the heating on and the windows closed. When the sun gets back into the rooms in September, these are the places a winter shows. From September people call the job a spring clean, and in winter the same job is a one-off.
- Glass. Condensation runs down the inside of cold windows all winter and leaves a film, and the tracks underneath fill with grit.
- The eaves. Cobwebs build under the eaves and around the window frames, and they come off with a pole from the ground.
- Heater dust. Vents, the tops of doors, skirting boards and ceiling corners collect what the heating has been blowing around.
- The kitchen. A season of roasts on the rangehood and the splashback, and the oven worst of all.
- Bathrooms. Shower glass, grout and the fan cover, after months of warm and wet with the window shut.
What a spring clean can include
Before our cleaner starts you say what matters most, and that list is worked from the top. The oven, the fridge and the inside of the cupboards can go on your list, and they then come out of your hours with no separate charge. Carpet steam cleaning can be added, priced per carpeted room.
Yes, we can do everything as long as you give us enough time.
How the hours work
$350
plus GST, the first four hours
Two cleaners for two hours is four hours of cleaning. Four hours will not always cover a whole house. It depends on the size of the house and the state it is in, and if the list is long you can book more hours.
Spring clean, regular clean or bond clean
If the house needs one big catch-up and you do not want a schedule
Book a spring clean. Four hours minimum, your list from the top, no contract and no schedule.
If you want the house held at a known state every week or fortnight
Book a regular clean. Two hours minimum each visit, and the same cleaner comes back on the same day.
If you are moving out and the agent will inspect
Book an end of lease clean. It has a fixed price by bedrooms and bathrooms, with its own inclusions list.
Doing part of it yourself
If you are doing part of it yourself, go top to bottom and outside to inside. Eaves and cobwebs first, then the windows and tracks, then the high dust, then the surfaces, and the floors last. Floors first is the mistake most people make once, because everything cleaned afterwards ends up on them.
